Tazkirah is built to need as little of your data as possible. Right now, there are no user accounts — your prayer streaks, tasbih counts, theme, and language preference are stored only in your own browser's local storage, on your own device. We don't have a database of that information, because it never leaves your device in the first place.
Using standard browser storage (not a server), Tazkirah keeps: your selected language and theme, your worship streak counts, your tasbih counter progress, and your notification preferences. This data stays on your device. Clearing your browser's site data, uninstalling the app, or switching devices will erase it — it does not sync anywhere, because there is currently nowhere for it to sync to.
To show accurate prayer times and Qibla direction, Tazkirah asks your browser for your device's location. That coordinate is sent directly to the Aladhan prayer-times API and used only to calculate your times and direction for that request — Tazkirah does not log, store, or retain your location on any server we control. If you decline location access, the app falls back to default times for Makkah rather than guessing your location another way.
Tazkirah uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how the app is used in aggregate — which pages and features get visited, roughly how many people use the app on a given day, and which language people choose. This is anonymized, aggregate usage data, not tied to your name or account (since there are no accounts). Google's own privacy practices govern how that data is further processed; see Google's Privacy Policy for details. You can block this with a browser privacy extension or ad blocker with no effect on the app's functionality.
If you enable reminders, Tazkirah uses your browser's built-in Notification API to show reminders while the app is open in a tab, or while installed on your device. These reminders are scheduled and triggered entirely on your device — no reminder content is sent to or generated by a remote server.
Beyond Google Analytics: prayer times and Hijri dates come from the free Aladhan API; Qur'an audio streams from a public Islamic content CDN; fonts are served by Google Fonts; icons are served by a pinned version of the Lucide icon library; the site itself is hosted by Netlify. Each of these may log standard technical request data (like IP address and request time) as part of normal web infrastructure — this is outside Tazkirah's control and governed by each provider's own policy.
Tazkirah is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the app requires no account and no personal information to use its core features, there is no account-based data to collect from anyone, of any age.
You can clear all locally stored Tazkirah data at any time through your browser's site settings, or by uninstalling the app if installed. You can deny location and notification permissions and still use every other feature. You can switch languages or themes at any time — these are also stored locally, not on an account.
If Tazkirah later introduces user accounts (a possibility on our roadmap), this policy will be updated first, with a clear description of what account data is collected, how it's secured, and how you can delete it — before that feature ships, not after.
